Dress Code

The Vancouver Golf Club’s dress code is strictly enforced — your cooperation is appreciated.

Members are responsible for the appropriate dress of their guests.

The golf professional staff and the clubhouse staff, including Club Captains, are instructed to administer these rules, and are empowered to refuse play on the course and/or admittance to the clubhouse facilities.

Clothing Not Permitted

The following apparel is not to be worn anywhere on the premises:

  • rugby pants
  • tennis shorts
  • cut-offs
  • jam or basketball style shorts
  • cargo pants or shorts
  • tank tops
  • strapless tops
  • sweatshirts with slogans, numbers and /or offensive illustrations
  • caps with commercial logos or worn backwards

Jeans that are excessively faded and/or having frayed hems, rips, tears, holes, wrinkled or dirty are NOT acceptable.

Denim of any kind is not permitted on the Golf Course or any of the practice facilities.

On the Golf Course & Practice Facilities

Gentlemen (of all ages)

Appropriate golf slacks or shorts which must be no more than six inches above the knee from the floor when kneeling.  Collared shirts are preferred; however, mock neck shirts with a collar band of at least 1½ inches are acceptable.  All shirts must be tucked in at all times with the exception of collared shirts having a straight-cut, finished hem.

Socks must be knee or ankle length (not more than 3 three inches above the shoe), not sports socks folded or rolled down.

Appropriate footwear for golf must be worn on the golf course.  Golf sandals are acceptable with or without socks.  A soft spikes only policy is in effect from April 1 until September 30.

Caps or visors are permitted on the lower floor and may also be worn outside on the patios.  Caps and visors must be worn in a forward position.

Denim of any kind is not permitted on the Golf Course or any of the practice facilities.

Ladies (of all ages)

Appropriate tailored golf slacks, culottes, skirts, dresses, skorts and shorts, which must be a maximum of eight inches above the knee from the floor when kneeling.

All tops must have either collars or sleeves.  Ladies may wear a mock style collar and a sleeveless shirt.  Designer shirts may be worn untucked; however, bare midriffs are not acceptable.  Tank tops are not permitted.

Appropriate footwear for golf must be worn on the golf course.  Golf sandals are acceptable with or without socks.  A soft spikes only policy is in effect from April 1 until September 30.

Upper Level: Fairways Grill Dining Room, Member’s Lounge, Patio & Banquet Rooms

Respectable golf attire (as listed above) and casual sportswear, including denim, is permitted, however caps and visors may be worn only outside on our patios.  Shirts may be untucked, providing that they are collared, button-down shirts.  Ladies are permitted to wear dressy (stylish) thin strapped tops that are appropriate for private club dining and social functions (not sports style tank tops).  Soft spikes are permitted throughout the Clubhouse.  Flip flops are permitted, providing that they are of good quality and not rubber, beach style flip flops.

Children under 12 years of age are permitted to wear solid coloured tee-shirts (with sleeves, having no slogans, numbers and/or offensive illustrations) inside the clubhouse only.

Golf Fitness Centre

Appropriate athletic attire, including t-shirts, shorts, track suits and running shoes.

No flip-flops, sandals, muscle shirts, cut-off or jam shorts.  Fitness attire is not permitted other than in the locker rooms, Fitness Centre or the direct hallways between the two.
